Virginia Sherriff, Director
BPhty CPP APAM
Location: SPS Macquarie Street Physiotherapy Clinic Sydney CBD
Area of Expertise: Spine, core stability, pilates

After graduating from The University of Otago, New Zealand in 2002, Virginia began her career in Musculoskeletal Private Practice in Wellington.  Here she began teaching Mat and Swiss ball based classes and working alongside New Zealand Soccer as Physiotherapist for the Wellington Women’s team during National tournament fixtures.

In 2004, Virginia began a working VISA in the UK and worked initially in the NHS system, which involved both Outpatient and Inpatient Musculoskeletal and Women’s Health work.  Following this, she was sponsored by Crystal Palace Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre for a further 4 years.  During this time she trained through the APPI in Mat I, II and Instructors Pilates and began teaching classes at Beginners & Intermediate levels.  In early 2009 Virginia completed her training in Acupuncture for Pain Relief which covered both Dry Needling and Traditional Chinese Method techniques for the treatment of common musculoskeletal complaints.

Despite family ties and many great friends in the UK, Virginia decided to return down under at the end of 6 years living and working in London.  In 2010, she made the move back to Sydney where she pursued her equipment based Pilates training through Stott Pilates.

Virginia joined the team at Sydney Physiotherapy Solutions in mid 2012 and has since become Director of the Pilates branch of the business, a perfect fit with her interest of spinal and pelvic stability, posture and deep core retraining.

Outside of the clinic, Virginia enjoys mid – long distance running (with 2 London Marathons under her belt – ‘I have retired since then!’), tennis and netball, but will give most sports a good nudge.  She has walked the Inca Trail, ridden camels through the Pyramids of Giza, traversed glaciers and snow capped volcanoes in Chile, & snowboarded Canadian Mountains….always on the lookout for a new challenge!
